Treating Dark Circles

Introduction
Sometimes makeup and eye creams just cant conceal your eye puffiness or darkness. Whether it is genetics, lack of sleep, or a night of alcohol and partying there are actions you can take. We will learn how to disguise them and zap them for good!
Causes
Dark circles are caused by pigmentation, blood vessels or the shadow of the the muscles and ligaments around the eyes on each side of the nose. Go to your mirror and pull the skin under your eyes taught. If the circles seem to go away your problem is more than likely the shadow effect. Otherwise, your dark circles may be caused by blood vessels. As you grow older, the skin under your eyes becomes more thin. Causing the red and blue blood vessels to show through. If your circles are not redish or blueish then it is probably just pigmentation. This is common among Asians and African Americans.
Pigmentation Treatment
Topical retinoids, hydroquinone or laser treatments are treatment for dark circles caused by pigmentation. Retinoids and hydroquinone can be bought over the counter in low doses. If they don't work see your doctor and you may be given a higher dosage. Avene Retrinal H.A.F Gel contains retinaldehyde. PH Advantage Pigmentation Fader contains hydroquinone. If these don't work you are going to have to do a laser treatment.
Blood Vessels Treatment:
The best thing to help pigmentation caused by blood vessels are products that contain Caffeine. This is the most common treatment. Try the Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller. If this does not work you will have to do a laser procedure.
Shadows Treatment:
Unfortunately there is only one treatment for shadows. It isn't that appealing either. You can have the area between the bridge of your nose and inner corners of your eyes filled with fillers.
Moisturize:
All dark circles look worst with dry skin. So try to maintain healthy textured skin.
Conceal:
In order to hide the dark circles you need to:
1. Massage an eye cream in a circular motion under eyes. This will increase circulation.
2. Use a concealer brush to play a concealer under your eyes. The concealer should be half a shade lighter than your skin tone. Try to use a peachy color.
3. Lightly tap your ring finger over the concealer to blend it in well.
4. If your eyes still appear shadowy apply a luminizing powder over the concealer to make the area more bright.
