Treating Cystic Acne

Cystic Acne:

Before I say anything - do not try to pop cystic acne. Just don't do it. It will only make it worse. Some of you may not even know what cystic acne is yet, but I felt very compelled to make that point from the start. Cystic acne is the most painful, harsh, deep form of acne. It doesn't have a head for a long time and it appears as a read bump on the skin surface.

Cysts occur when a pore contains skin cells, sebum (oil), bacteria and the white cell ruptures. When this happens your body spreads infammation to the surrounding skin and a balloon of inflammation is created. That is why you shouldn't pop them your going to spread around that inflammation around and make it even more gross looking and annoying. Lets face it - for a lot of us acne has got to be one of the most annoying things to deal with.

So my best advice would be to go to your dermetologist and get a shot of corticosteroid into the cyst. It should be gone in a couple days after that. For now, use spot treatments with benzoyl peroxide or sulfur/resorcinol spot. If your cystic acne is reoccuring you may have to be put on oral antibiotics, topical retinoids or birth control subscribed by your dermetologist.

*As a rule of thumb: Always stop picking pimples when they start to bleed and don't pick them at all if they don't have a head.
